Mixed breeds are overwhelmingly healthier dogs than pedigree dogs precisely because the gene pool is much larger. Inbreeding is extremely common in pedigrees to maintain desirable bloodlines. Rescuers aren’t vets or scientists. What Dani Stearns said is absolutely true AND also common knowledge. Cross breeders are manufacturing brand name dogs for money. For the sake of providing what people think they want without any accounting for the health problems crossbred dogs will have to deal with such as respiratory issues in dogs like pugs. Being a “rescuer” you should at least know that. Inbreeding absolutely can cause health problems but denying that crossbreeding does as well as irresponsible. Especially as a rescuer.
